Through my oil portraits, I choose to depict a variety of people who were well known for their unique personal achievements, and their unquestionable marks on the world. We all have public and private personas. Most are tied to our honest desires and our deepest fears. I believe that as a society we have chosen to glorify artists based on their fame, and disregard the struggles they went through and who they went through it with. We see the masks, not the people behind them. When I start each painting, I carefully select artists that have made an impact on me through their work. Then I analyze and dissect their personality with my brush.  With my paintings I plan on representing more than what's on the surface.
